Welcome.

If you are looking for a chance to talk, for any reason, I’m glad you’re here.  I’m a psychologist in private practice, and I strive to understand people without judging or criticizing — to know what it’s like for them to live their lives, and to feel their emotions, from the inside out.  I have many years of experience working with individuals and couples, and I am now accepting new patients.

Thank you for visiting. If you’d like to speak further, please contact me by phone (646-581-4151) or email.

Why psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic therapy is based on the power of expressing significant feelings to a person you trust. It is confidential; as long as you and the people in your life remain safe, nothing you reveal to me will be released without your consent.  Each unique course treatment strives toward the patient’s goals, but can also accommodate twists and turns along the way. Patients can discuss their day-to-day lives or disclose feelings they have held inside for years.  Couples can find ways to open up about problems in their relationships.

In treatment, people can begin to cope with grief, anxiety, or conflict.  Others gain resilience in the face of adversity or learn mindfulness skills. Disruptive life events like a breakup, a lost job, or the death of someone close can leave one feeling raw; these days, even national politics can cause overwhelming feelings of anxiety. Therapy — virtually or in person — can offer the perfect opportunity to talk it out.  Some people attend only for a few sessions, to work through a specific problem, while others may choose to make therapy a part of their lives for a long time.

About Dr. Soeiro

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maine. I’m board certified with the American Board of Professional Psychology and a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology.  I provide psychotherapy for adults (age 18 and up) and couples.

I specialize in helping people motivate themselves, feel less depressed, and reduce anxiety.  People often come to me with difficulties at work, relationship problems, big decisions, or unexpected life events.  I also often help people who feel they aren’t succeeding as much as they would like, or couples who are having trouble getting along.

As a therapist, I believe therapy should be a lively, supportive, challenging discourse.  I offer psychodynamic treatment, although I’ve also been trained in cognitive-behavioral strategies.   I provide in-person therapy (at my Manhattan office, close to Grand Central) as well as confidential telehealth treatment.

Please feel free to email me or call me at 646-581-4151 with any questions.  Thanks for visiting.

Contact Me

It’s a good idea to get a sense for how a therapist works, and who they are as a person, before you start working with them.  For that reason I’m happy to answer questions via email and will try to respond promptly.  (Remember, though, e-mail is not a confidential form of communication.)  I’m also willing to speak by phone for a few introductory minutes before we meet, to give you a sense of what it would be like to talk to me.

You can reach me by phone or text at 646-581-4151.

Please note: If you are concerned about your safety or the safety of someone else, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
